Most all rolling stock, locos, and some trucks are homebuilt by me or others using wood, metal, or a combination of both. Most equipment is built freelance with available materials to approximately 1-1/2" scale, fairly well detailed and, except for the tank car and Toy Box caboose-are rideable.


That is my way of building-to look good, be used, not abused-but strong and durable.


Some locos are freelance. The speeder is electric powered,others gas
mechanical. Handcars are old toys, hand cranked chain drive.

My "toy train", Yorkids Railway Line. It ia an articulated, electtric powered.

Homebuilt Steeplecab loco, electice powered, 24 vdc motors. Hood, doors, hardley seen, have heavy duty staples for hinges and handles, drilled in and bent over.

Aluminum steeplecab body, home built.

Four wheel loco chassis, good for any type loco. Motors to jackshaft to axles. Could also be direct gear drive. Both would be about 4:1 ratio like a Cannonball Super Mack.

Homebuilt trolley pole, rotates 360 deg, hooks down.

Freelance 5 ft mechanical reefer, aluminum body, steel frame, wood ribs. Roof lifts off for riders. Ladders, steps, etc are all home made. Rivets are linoleum hails, 150 pieces for just over a dollar.

6 ft 6 in freelance bulkhead flatcar. Welded steel body and ends, wood floor.
